The Photograph as Contemporary Art Ch 3-5
In chapter 3 the piece by Andreas Gursky entitled Board of Trade 2 reminded me of a convention or something because it has a lot going on in it. What was interesting in the description of the piece was that it stated that the aerial view gives the viewer a "sense of omniscience" which is true because one can see everybody at one time in the piece which relates to how God is omniscient and omnipresent (84). The piece in chapter 4 by Peter Fischili and David Weiss entitled Quiet Afternoon was a very interesting piece to look at because of the type of items that were used. They were very mundane just as the book states and when I look at the center piece I thought it was a human thumb but then I saw that it was a carrot (114). The background and table are also very dull which matches the piece because the colors are very vibrant.
