New Media in Art, Introduction & Chp. 1

In the introduction a piece that caught my attention was the piece by Giacomo Balla entitled Dynamism of a Dog on a Leash and the reason for that was because of the movement it had and it reminded me of a time where I used sticky notes to create movement by drawing separate characters on each pages of the sticky notes (14). In this case the artist created movement on one piece by creating each separate movement similar stop motion animation. Another piece in the introduction that caught my attention was Mieko Shiomi Disappearing Music for Face simply because each picture is a gradual change from a smile back to it's original phase (27). I've done this with pictures before where I move through pictures and it's as if they are moving and I usually scroll back and forth which gives me laugh every know and then. Another piece that peaked my interest was by Nam June Paik entitled Concerto for TV because it uses different materials to create this robot like sculpture and comes alive at the same time (55).
